Description from the seller
Title: Rare Late Medieval / Renaissance Dagger (Swiss Basel dagger type) dating to around the 1400s-1600s.
It was personally acquired.
Description: For sale is an authentic, historical dagger in Basel style. The object features the absolutely typical crescent-shaped guard and the characteristic pommel.
Condition & Important Note: The piece has been cleaned and conserved.
Please note: The tang (the grip) has become extremely thin through the centuries (substantial material loss down to only a few millimeters) and the pommel is highly fragile. The object is expressly sold as a highly delicate archaeological collectible item and must be handled with extreme care.
Provenance: I bought it in 2015 from an elderly gentleman. It lay in his display cabinet, from a private household.
Catawiki disclaimer: This object has been dated based on style by the seller. No further tests, such as an analysis of metals (XRF test), have been conducted to check the integrity of the piece.
No shipping outside the EU.
