Description from the seller
Low mahogany corner étagère - 19th century.
A Portuguese corner étagère, probably from the second half of the 19th century, made of solid and veneered mahogany, with an open framework and triangular shape, designed to be placed in a corner.
It features two overlapping tops, with a cut-front and moulded edge. The upper top is capped by a small cut-back backboard and two turned pinnacles in the form of acorns. The structure is supported by turned uprights, with the lower area laterally closed by sequences of small balusters. It rests on three turned legs.
The composition, marked by the turned elements, undulating fronts and pinnacles, fits into Romantic furniture of Victorian-inspired design produced during the second half of the 19th century.
Dimensions: 86 × 58 × 37 cm. Condition: Good overall condition, with signs of use and age.
