Description from the seller
A beautiful piece of maritime history: a heavily quality silver-plated [type of object], specifically manufactured for use in the dining halls or salons aboard the luxury ocean liners of the Nederlandsch-Amerikaansche Stoomvaart Maatschappij (NASM), better known worldwide as the Holland-Amerika Lijn (HAL).
Unique features and engravings:
• Front/Edge: Featuring the iconic, authentic diamond-shaped NASM logo, in which the letters N-A-S-M are engraved in the four quadrants.
• Bottom: Fully stamped with the trademark of the well-known Dutch manufacturer SOLA and the silver content 90 (high-quality, heavy hotel-silver quality). In addition it bears the stamp of the well-known Rotterdam firm V. Zwanenburg, at the time the regular hofleverancier and wholesaler that supplied the luxury shipware and hotel silver to the HAL.
This object exudes the nostalgia of trans-Atlantic journeys between Rotterdam and New York during the Golden Age of passenger shipping. A sought-after and highly collectible item for lovers of maritime heritage and shipping silver.
