AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Console table in exotic wood with gilded carving - 19th century.

Console table, Portuguese, made in the 19th century in light-toned exotic wood, possibly sapelli. Rectangular top slightly raised, over a case with a full-length drawer, decorated with gilded geometric inlay and two circular pulls in yellow metal.

Front apron carved and pierced, with a symmetrical vegetal-inspired composition, centered by a palmette and flanked by scrolls, reticulated reserves, and gilded elements. Turned baluster legs, ornamented with gilded rings. Cut-out side panels and a plain-tinished back, confirming the piece as a console table.

The combination of turnings, vegetal-inspired carving, gilding, and the seventeenth- or eighteenth-century-inspired lines allow it to be placed within a Portuguese historicist production from the second half of the 19th century.

Dimensions: 84 × 100 × 50 cm. Condition: In good overall condition, with signs of use and age.
