Description from the seller
OLYMPUS PEN D – serviced, shutter speeds measured on a tester.
• Shutter speeds measured on a shutter tester – results below.
• Serviced before listing: viewfinder cleaned internally, light seals (foam) replaced.
• Condition: Fair – 2 issues, fully disclosed under Known Issues.
About this camera
The Olympus Pen D, launched in 1962, was the upmarket flagship of Yoshihisa Maitani's celebrated half-frame Pen line, yielding 72 shots from a single 36-exposure roll. It carries a beautifully sharp six-element F.Zuiko 32mm f/1.9 lens, the fastest fitted to any Pen, behind a Copal X leaf shutter that runs to 1/500 second. An uncoupled selenium meter aids exposure, while the ultra-compact body embodies Maitani's goal of a high-quality camera small enough to carry anywhere. It is a much-loved classic among half-frame enthusiasts.
Measured Performance
- 1/60 — measured 1/38 s (approx. 0.7 stop slow)
- Light meter accuracy — EV12: 3.8 OVER / EV15: 4.2 OVER
Some of these deviations exceed what negative film can absorb – see Known Issues.
The shutter fires at all speeds and the light meter responds.
Servicing
- Viewfinder cleaned internally
- Light seals (foam) replaced
Condition
Appearance: scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details.
Lens (F.Zuiko 32mm f/1.9): clear, no issues
Viewfinder: clean (cleaned inside)
Known Issues
1. The shutter runs slow: 1/8 measured 1/4.3, 1/60 measured 1/38, 1/500 measured 1/138.
2. Because of the slow shutter, exposures come out about 4 stops over (3.8 stops at EV12, 4.2 stops at EV15). A shutter service is recommended.
Included: only what is shown in the photos.
As a used item, minor imperfections may exist that are not individually described.
Shipping: FedEx or Japan Post (ePacket) to your registered address, within 3 business days of payment.
Taxes: EU (up to EUR 150) and UK (up to GBP 135) are collected at checkout – nothing to pay on delivery, except a possible small customs fee (around EUR 3) in some countries. Other orders may owe import tax on delivery. We never under-declare values or mark items as gifts.
Returns follow Catawiki's Seller Terms. Questions are welcome before bidding.
