Masque Deangle - Dan - Côte d'Ivoire

This sale features a collection of works from the workshop of a Belgian painter, gathered over time as a result of his discoveries, his encounters and his affinities. The artists have often maintained a privileged connection with the arts of the primitive: sensitive to the strength of forms, to the simplicity of volumes and to the expressiveness of materials, they were among the first to look at these objects differently from mere curiosities. Their eye, naturally attentive to lines and balance, led them to collect these works and, sometimes, to draw inspiration from them. This collection thus bears witness to an intimate dialogue between artistic creation, the collector’s perspective and a fascination with forms from elsewhere.
