Starr, complete with its original (metal) liner, bearing the name of the famous New York silversmith and jeweler, active from 1877 after his period at Starr and Marcus. Solid silver weighing approximately 772 grams—a particularly substantial amount of sterling silver for a table vase, reflecting the opulence of American silverwork during the Gilded Age (1880–1910). At the time, the creations of this Fifth Avenue firm directly rivaled those of TIFFANY & CO.
