The Onkyo C-7030 (often mistakenly referred to as CR-7030) is a very popular and affordable high-fidelity single-disc CD player known for its excellent value for money. Since its introduction in 2011, this model has been praised by both budget audiophiles and experts, because it performs excellently both as a standalone player and as a purely digital running gear (transport).

Key specifications and features

Audiophile DAC: The early and most acclaimed editions are equipped with a high-quality Wolfson 192 kHz / 24-bit Digital To Analog Converter (DAC) for clear, detailed and musical sound reproduction.

VLSM Technology: Onkyo's Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry reduces pulse noise that occurs during digital-to-analog conversion, resulting in a smoother sound image.

Sturdy build quality: Equipped with a 1.6 mm thick anti-vibration chassis and a sleek aluminum front panel, which effectively dampens unwanted vibration.

Excellent barrel: Completely interference-free signal processing and an extremely accurate internal clock to minimize timing errors (jitter).

Connections and compatibility

Audio outputs: Features 1x Analog (RCA/Tulip), 1x Digital Coaxial and 1x Digital Optical (Toslink).

Supported formats: Plays traditional audio CDs, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3/WMA files burned to CD.

Headphones: Includes a built-in headphone amplifier with its own volume knob on the front panel.

As CD-Transport: Many audio enthusiasts use the C-7030 purely as 'transport' by digitally connecting it to a modern, high-end external DAC. Independent measurements on audio forums show that the device performs almost perfectly in this role
