Two rare Art Deco powder boxes with lid (1930), part of a toiletry set, a green and a yellow/orange mother-of-pearl cellulose acetate. The powder boxes are spherical and have a squat form, the boxes rest on three transparent legs. The lotus-shaped lid has a beautiful coloured knob.

Fred Bulmer, a collector from Leeds, Yorkshire, offered his collection of 'plastic antique' to the V & A at the end of 1982. The museum decided to by 59 objects from Bulmer the next year, including a similar powder box, museum no. C. 53-1984 (collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O256811/powder-bowl)
