We know the theme of the dancing faun, or bacchant, from classical antiquity. As sparkling as shown here, with the playful matching patina in all the bronze tones, we've never seen it before. Augusto Rivalta (1837-1925)
The original masterpiece is at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome.


He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and Genoa with the most important Italian sculptors of his time, Costoli and Duprè.
He became professor of sculpture at the Academy of Florence.
Taking part in the Italian Risorgimento, Rivalta was able to receive commissions for memorials from many of its leaders, including Garibaldi, Cavour, Ricasoli and Victor Emmanuel II, which can be admired in many Italian cities.
