Acid-etched glass vase signed "Emile Gallé"
Study vase in purple glass decorated with a floral decoration in relief. Gallé Japanese-like signature in the décor
Under the base, inscription in hollow "Gallé Etude"
Height: 12.6 cm - Diameter: 9.2 cm

The term "Etude" was used by Gallé to describe vases that were imperfect during production but were of sufficient interest and importance to ensure their survival.
These were generally unique pieces for which Emile Gallé sought aesthetic and technical excellence, often commissions (which Gallé hated) for an important occasion, by a patron who could not be refused.
The signature engraved on the work indicates that the criteria are met.
