Een schort met een vrijmetselaar logo werd gebruikt als onderdeel van de traditionele kleding van vrijmetselaars tijdens hun rituelen en bijeenkomsten. Het schort symboliseert de zuiverheid en onschuld van de vrijmetselaar en wordt beschouwd als een belangrijk symbool binnen de vrijmetselarij. Het dragen van een schort is een traditie die teruggaat tot de vroege dagen van de vrijmetselarij en heeft een diepe symbolische betekenis voor de leden van deze organisatie.

Dit stuk wijkt af van andere schorten die voorbij komen, dit is namelijk eens schort van hoogwaardige kwaliteit. Het is gemaakt van katoen, zijde en het witte middenstuk is van leer. Gouden logo en bloemen zijn gemaakt van gouddraad en de "rafels" zijn van 22 karaat verguld metaaldraad. Ook de drie metalen vrijmetselaar symbolen zijn van 22 karaat verguld goud. Gesp is in vorm van een slang.

Gouddraad is een type draad dat gemaakt is van echt goud. Het wordt vaak gebruikt voor decoratieve doeleinden, zoals borduurwerk, kledingversiering, juwelen en ambachtelijke projecten. Gouddraad kan in verschillende vormen voorkomen, zoals draad, lint of folie.

Gouddraad wordt meestal gemaakt door een dunne laag goud op een ander materiaal aan te brengen, zoals zijde, katoen, polyester of metaaldraad. Dit kan worden gedaan door middel van vergulding, waarbij een dunne laag goud op het oppervlak wordt aangebracht, of door het gebruik van goudfolie die op het materiaal wordt aangebracht.

Vrijmetselarij is een eeuwenoude, wereldwijde broederschap die zich richt op persoonlijke groei, morele ontwikkeling en het streven naar universele waarden. Het is een filosofische en symbolische traditie die haar oorsprong vindt in de middeleeuwen, maar haar moderne vorm kreeg in de 18e eeuw.

Provenance: privé collectie van een welgestelde familie in Engeland die aangesloten was bij verschillende lodges in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.
