MASQUE ZAMBLE - GOURO - CÔTE D'IVOIRE

Venant du Nord, les Gouros, population Mandé, sont arrivés dans cette région au XVIème siècle.
Les Gouro sont appelés Lo ou Golo et se nomment eux-mêmes Kwéni.
Les Baoulé les nomment Gouro.
Les masques Gu ou Gou sont principalement des masques féminins qui accompagnent les masques Zamble et Zaouli.
Ces masques suivent le masque homme dans les cérémonies.
Ils appartiennent au culte du Yo, et ont pratiquement disparus par manque d'attractivité, leur danse n'étant plus assez impressionante.
De nos jours lorsque l'on fait mention du masque Gu, les hommes haussent les épaules et disent que c'est un masque de la vieille génération de danseurs.
Le masque Zamble est très particulier à l'ethnie Guro. Mi-léopard, mi-antilope, il constitue le trait d'union entre les masques profanes et les masques sacrés.
