Description from the seller
Vaas - Amber trumpet vase on a fluted foot, Art Deco • Czechoslovakia (attrib.) • ca. 1930-1940 - Glass
Trumpet vase made of amber-colored glass with a fluted rim and a waisted foot, which darkens from honey to cognac when faced with sunlight. Unmarked and unnamed; no maker claimed.
Amber trumpet vase in Art Deco style, pressed glass, presumably from Czechoslovakia, circa 1930-1940. From a slender stem the body widens to a fluted rim, atop a waisted foot with radial ribs. In sunlight the glass shifts from honey to cognac, with the thick facets darkening.
For this object there is also a Buy It Now price set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting.
At a glance:
Material: amber-colored glass, pressed
Dimensions: h 28 x w 15 cm
Weight: 1320 grams
Mark: no factory mark, signature, or label found
Dating: ca. 1930-1940
Provenance: private collection, Western Europe
Description and context:
Conical body with vertical facets and stepped cross-ribs under the rim. The stem transitions with a finely ribbed cuff into the waisted foot; the underside shows a dark, rough circular spot where the stem attaches. The stepped ribs and radiant foot are typical of Art Deco. A weight of 1320 grams at 28 cm height indicates a thick wall, characteristic of pressed glass and not of mouth-blown work.
Condition:
Very good. Rim and foot edge: no chips, cracks, or restorations observed. Wall: fine scratches and small bubbles. Bottom of foot: one small lighter spot just outside the ribs. See the photographs.
In the interior:
Fits in an Art Deco, vintage, or eclectic interior, on a sideboard, mantel, or windowsill. In front of a window the glass glows warmly.
Shipping:
Professionally packaged in a sturdy box with cushioning material, with a double box for particularly fragile objects. Always insured shipping with Track and Trace. See feedback from previous buyers.
Attribution and sources:
A factory or maker has not been identified or claimed. The country is an estimate based on form and color: amber Art Deco pressed glass of this type came among others from Czechoslovakia. Germany remains possible. A visual comparison with documented examples yielded no match.
