Long Pond distillery presents the Collection New Vibrations - ITP, a 70cl Jamaica single bottling, 51.5% ABV, bottled in 2023 from a 1998 distillation with original packaging, by Rest & Be Thankful; the expression aged ten years in the tropics and finished nine months in a sherry cask that previously held Port Charlotte 2004.
Description from the seller
Initially aged for ten years in the tropics, this version continued its maturation in Scotland, including the last nine months in the sherry cask which had contained the Port Charlotte 2004 from the Antipodes catalogue. With an almost volcanic minerality and a constantly renewed fruitiness, its aromatic and taste palette perfectly illustrates the Rest & Be Thankful spirit. A link between Jamaica and Scotland, she also demonstrates rare generosity and strength of character.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Rich, substantial. Medicinal (mustard, arnica), mineral (gum arabic) and herbaceous (chamomile, lemongrass), the first nose is impressive with solar fullness. Allowed to breathe, scents of musk and yellow grapefruit are coated with empyreumatic notes of sleet and turpentine.
Appearance: Golden yellow.
Mouth: Both lively and suave. In turn oily (fuel), the attack on the palate adds flavors of hot rubber. The mid-palate ventures into extremely juicy vanilla and fruity regions (pear, mirabelle plum). The very finish is honeyed (geranium, acacia).
Finish: Long, delicious. Vanilla (flan), spicy (ginger, cloves) and syrupy (warm cane sugar), the start of the finish is slightly telluric (ash, soot). Exotic (banana, pineapple), the aftertaste is embellished by notes of old precious wood and barley sugar.
