The work is a collection of artistic, black-and-white nude "Camera Studies". The imagery features the highly prominent 1930s dancers and physical culturists Jimmy Gaston and Rosemary Andrée. The photographs were captured by Walter Bird, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) who was widely celebrated for his pioneering mid-century nude photography.

The book was originally produced as a quarto-sized, spiral-bound volume inside stiff black cloth boards, stamped with silver lettering.

It consists of roughly 6 preliminary pages of text and a preface, followed by 32 high-quality photographic plates. Each artistic photograph is displayed on a right-hand page (recto), while the facing left-hand page (verso) contains a descriptive caption explaining the physical pose, muscle group, or artistic theme.

In the 1930s, the "physical culture" movement celebrated the peak of human fitness, classical symmetry, and strength. The book positions the nude human body not as something scandalous, but as an aesthetic ideal. It treats the human form like living classical sculpture, focusing heavily on shadow, musculature, posture, and the athletic grace of the two dancers.
