LEGO 910029 Mountain Fortress was a 3,995 piece BrickLink exclusive set with 9 minifigs released in 2024 with a limited production of only 30,000 sets. It consists of a mountain fortress with a winter theme, a drawbridge, a frozen moat, featuring foldable and accessible interiors.

In terms of design, the snowy style avoids the big gray cube syndrome. The snow is well-dosed, especially on the ramparts, and there are small snow drips or stalactites in different places. The plants are also in a winter version, the whole is coherent and the details are varied for a more natural look. And the large banners dress the sides of the main tower well.

The little touches of color ( dark tan , sand green , etc.) in some places and the yellow part above the main entrance (reminiscent of the 6074 Black Falcon Fortress set from 1986) also help to break the monotony of the light gray. The little frozen river is nice too.

One thing I particularly like about this castle, and that you don't necessarily find on all medieval MOCs: the fan designer knew how to play with angles and Pythagoras, to avoid having only a combination of square blocks. This is a point that official LEGO designers master perfectly, and that is always nice to find in a MOC.

The same is true for the management of volumes, with the exterior slope which brings originality and which really makes the castle interesting to look at from all angles.

And the fan designer also took care of a point that I particularly appreciated in the big castle of the Lion Knights: there is no inaccessible floor or magical area, it is possible to go to any place in the castle by going through the different paths and stairs present. This is far from being a detail, it also shows how well the architecture was thought out.

In terms of functionality, there is a portcullis on the main entrance and a drawbridge at the top of the path that goes up. Both do their job perfectly, with each time a mechanism with a ratchet to lock them in the high position, and to be able to make them fall in one go without having to grind in the other direction on a crank.
