Description from the seller
Louise D. is a contemporary artist based in Biarritz, in the southwest of France.
Born in the Paris region, she grows up along the banks of the Seine, in an atmosphere conducive to daydreaming and observation. From an early age, she develops a sensitivity to the arts, and especially to painting, which she initially practices in silence, as an inner language.
Inspired by Abstract Expressionism, she finds a deep resonance in the work of Mark Rothko and Pierre Soulages. Through their universes, she discovers the intensity of the gesture, the emotional power of color, and the poetry of emptiness.
Today, she mainly works with watercolor and acrylic, two media she handles with great freedom. One is light, fluid and spontaneous, the other denser, more rooted — together they sketch the contours of a sensitive world, made of silence and vibration.
Of a discreet temperament, Louise D. did not begin to display her works until recently, at the dawn of her fifties. This late revelation marks a turning point in her life: that of an art that has become essential, vital, to be shared.
“I paint what words don't know how to say. I seek the trace of the moment, the echo of a silence, the color of a memory.” — Louise D.
