Bedside Gun by Philippe Starck for Flos

The Bedside Gun table lamp, designed by Philippe Starck for Flos, is a striking piece that offers both direct light (perfect for reading) and diffuse ambient lighting. The lamp body is crafted from die-cast aluminum with a polymer-coated exterior, plated in 18-karat gold through a galvanic process. The shade is made of paper with a matte black plastic coating and features a silkscreen-printed gold interior.

The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with a few small marks on the lampshade that have always been there; they never bothered me.

This lamp evokes a range of emotions, which is precisely the effect Philippe Starck aimed to achieve. With the Guns series, the designer intended to draw attention to the issues surrounding the global arms trade. The provocative gold-plated shaft of the lamp symbolizes the connection between war and profit. As part of the collection, 20% of the proceeds are donated by Flos to a charitable organization supporting developing countries.
