Icon - Theotokos Odigitria - Gilt brass

Orthodox icon of the Mother of God with the Child (Theotokos Odigitria) – Russia, 20th century

Icon representing the Mother of God with the Child, in the traditional Odigitria type, with an old repoussed and gilded brass riza, datable to the 20th century and of Russian origin.
The riza and the ancient textiles are preserved and authentic. The painting beneath the riza has been completely repainted in recent decades on a modern wooden support by an Italian icon painter.
The wooden frame with glass is a subsequent addition, dated to the mid-20th century.
Condition: very good overall condition; normal wear of the old elements; modern paint in very good condition.
