Beautiful antique oak monastery chest, probably originating from Northwest Europe (the Netherlands, Flanders or Northern France), dating from the 19th century or possibly earlier. This rare chest is executed in Gothic style and features beautifully hand-carved ornamentation on the front, with characteristic pointed arches and tracery reminiscent of medieval church windows.

The chest is fully made of solid oak and is in authentic, used condition with a beautiful patina. The lid is equipped with original iron hinges and locking hardware (key is missing). Interior is plain, with signs of use that underscored its age.
