Intriguing Fon statuette from Nigeria. This is a representation of a skeleton. The facial expression is captivating and enigmatic. It fixes us with its large hollow eyes, accompanied by a chilling smile in which all its teeth are on display. It seems alive despite its wooden skeletal condition. The body is tense, the chest forward, the arms along the sides. It is covered with white pigments and various offerings. Note the presence of feathers on its crown. Intrigante statuette Fon du Nigeria. Il s'agit de la représentation d'un squelette. L'expression du visage est captivante et énigmatique. Il nous fixe avec ses grands yeux vides accompagné d'un sourire glaçant ou toutes ses dents son mises en avant. Il semble vivant malgré sa condition de squelette en bois. Le corps est tendu, le buste en avant, les bras le long du corps. Il est recouverts de pigments blanc et d'offrandes diverses. On notera la présence de plumes sur son crâne. Fentes et accidents, vendu en l'état, voir photos. Une belle pièce de collection ancienne et authentique, circa 1960.
