Kyoto" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Takeji Iwamiya. He is a well-known master of Kansai photography active since the postwar period. He was in the army for six years in a foreign country during World War II, and after the war he lived desperately in the devastated city of Osaka, trying his best to find a way to survive. He was a man of few words, and his heart was in a state of despair and depression, but one day he visited Kyoto and found it strangely soothing and relaxing. Kyoto in KYOTO" was published in 1963 and was awarded the Mainichi Art Award. This book was published eight years later, and according to Iwamiya, "This book is my trajectory in Kyoto and should be called a compilation of my work. The book is the culmination of Iwamiya's efforts to express the unique historical and climatic character of Kyoto. The book is mainly in color, with some in black and white.
