Eye Portfolio Hiroshi Hamaya Photographs 1935-1967" is a collection of photographs by Hiroshi Hamaya, one of Japan's leading photographers. Hiroshi Hamaya is a leading figure in postwar Japanese news and documentary photography. His “Snow Country” (1956), which meticulously recorded and depicted the lives and climate of people living in harsh climates and working environments, especially along the coast of the Sea of Japan, far from the cities, and “Ura-nihon” (1957), a masterpiece that has left its mark on Japanese photographic history, are also included in the book. In addition, Hamaya left an immeasurable mark on the world of photography with his “Record of Anger and Sorrow” (1960), which documented the struggles and riots of the 1960s. Here is a unique work by such a journalist, published in 1968 in a private edition with a total of 33 illustrations on 9 unbound plates, with captions and biographies in English only. Included are representative works such as “A Woman Planting Rice” and “Boys Singing a Song to Drve Noxious Birds Away - New Year's Event”. Gravure printing.
