Description from the seller
An exceptional copy signed on the title page by Marc Riboud (1923 - 2016) of this corporate book from Electricité de France published off-market (unique and impossible to find on the internet in a signed edition and rare unsigned edition). Very beautiful black textured binding with the title embossed tone-on-tone on the cover and in silver lettering on the spine, with dust jacket and case. 60 color photographs, most full-page or two-page spreads. In excellent condition, practically like new.
Marc Riboud produced numerous reports in China as an independent photographer, but this off-market book was commissioned by Electricité de France specifically because of his familiarity with China. The Daya Bay (GNPS/Guangdong Nuclear Power Station) nuclear power plant is a Chinese nuclear facility located in Dayawan Bay, Shenzhen, about 50 kilometers from Hong Kong and 150 kilometers from Canton. It is equipped with two reactors that were built by French companies with substantial Chinese participation. Around 70% of the electricity produced is transmitted to Hong Kong, with the remainder destined for the People’s Republic of China. About fifty French expatriates worked on the construction site, where the guiding motto was “technology transfer.”
Born near Lyon, Marc Riboud participated in the anti-Nazi resistance in the Vercors in 1944. From 1945 to 1948, he studied engineering at the École Centrale de Lyon and worked in a factory, then decided to devote himself to photography. In 1953 he secured his first publication in Life for a photograph of a painter on the Eiffel Tower, which remains famous. At the invitation of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa, he joined the Magnum Photos agency, and thus began a long career full of exhibitions, books, and successes.
Copy in excellent condition (practically like new), a volume from my personal collection kept with the utmost care. Protected shipping with reinforced packaging and international tracked mail guaranteed. For multiple purchases, group shipment is possible with reimbursement of any overpaid postage via PayPal.
