A very fine antique 4/4 italian master violin, labeled LORENZO VENTAPANE FABBRICANTE DI STRUMENTI DA CORDE Abita Calata Borgo di Loreto N°. 23. The instrument is in ready to play condition with some small repaired cracks on top, grafted scroll, new ebony fingerboard, new ebony set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent high to medium grained spruce of the top and one piece back of interesting softly flamed maple. Rich brown color varnish over golden ground shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 361 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 162 mm; middle bouts: 113 mm; lower bouts: 201 mm. Full size.
