Autographed letter by Marcel Pagnol, titled Lettre autographe signée, dated 1951, in French (original language), in very good condition; one item.
Description from the seller
Very beautiful autograph letter signed by Marcel Pagnol (1895-1974), French writer, playwright and filmmaker famous for his works inspired by Provence.
Very good condition. The letter has 2 signatures: “Marcel” and “MP,” Pagnol having added a note on the back after finishing his letter.
Letter addressed to his sister Germaine Pagnol. Marcel talks about the “Château de sa mère”: La Buzine.
The Château de la Buzine, in Marseille, is an old bastide transformed into a castle in the 19th century. Marcel Pagnol bought it in 1941 to create a film city there, not knowing what place it was. When he visits a few days later, he recognises with emotion the “castle of his mother,” the one he dreaded as a child while crossing the estate with his family. This memorable memory will become the heart of his book Le Château de ma mère. The film project fails, the castle is abandoned, then saved and restored by the city of Marseille, which in 2011 makes it a cultural site dedicated to Mediterranean cinema and to Pagnol’s work.
If you buy several pieces, the shipping costs will be grouped. You will only have to pay the shipping fees once.
Note: exporting this document from France to a country outside the European Union requires an export license issued by the Ministry of Culture, a mandatory formalities before any shipment.
