SUSTAINABILITY
Our bronze sculptures are made from recycled metals, such as old pipes. Our artisans collect this scrap and then heat it in a furnace at very high temperatures. Once the scrap pieces are melted, the new base material is ready for use. We then use this new material for our bronze sculptures. Because bronze is a very environmentally taxing and labor-intensive material to mine, we find it much more meaningful to reuse already produced material rather than mining it again. In this way we aim to close at least one waste loop.
TRANSPARENCY & WHO MADE IT
Finally, regarding our working conditions, we work exclusively with Indonesian artisans in Bali and Java. This particular piece was made in Java, Indonesia. All our artisans receive a living wage higher than what Indonesian law requires. Their income is sufficient for a comfortable home, food, education, ceremonies, and more.
