Mixosaurus was an early ichthyosaur that lived around 240 million years ago during the Middle Triassic period. They were relatively small in size and had a dolphin-like appearance.

Mixosaurus represents a key transitional form in ichthyosaur evolution, marking the shift from a lizard-like body to a fully aquatic, streamlined shape. It is considered one of the most important species for studying the early evolution of ichthyosaurs.

This specimen, measuring 36 cm in straight length, is an unprepared juvenile. The delicate bones of juveniles are much harder to preserve compared to adults, which is why Mixosaurus under 50 cm are less common, and specimens with a continuous vertebral column are especially rare.

This piece comes with no reserve price, and everyone is welcome to participate in the bidding. It is highly recommended for collectors who have limited display space at home or who particularly enjoy marine reptiles.
