【Black Beauty That Brought Innovation】
Introduced by Lotus in 1977 as the revolutionary wing car, the Type 78, the Type 79 debuted at the 1978 Belgian GP as its perfected successor. By optimizing the venturi effect through innovations like inboard rear suspension and repositioned fuel tanks and exhaust pipes, it delivered overwhelming speed. Mario Andretti secured a pole-to-finish victory in its debut, and together with Ronnie Peterson, continued a dominant run, with Andretti claiming five wins and Peterson one. The Type 79 clinched both the drivers’ and constructors’ championship titles before the final race. Known as the “Black Beauty” for its stunning body design and black livery, the Lotus Type 79 remains an epoch-making car in F1 Grand Prix history.

● 1/20 scale plastic model assembly kit. Length: 220 mm, Width: 108 mm.  
● Accurately reproduces the sleek, low-profile form.  
● Detachable front and rear cowls, separate from the monocoque, allow observation of the cockpit, engine, and suspension even after assembly.  
● Faithfully recreates the distinctive wing-shaped underside of the side pontoons.  
● Includes a metal air funnel cover, enhancing the precision of the Ford DFV engine.  
● Features newly designed rubber tires.  
● Slide decals include two versions for car Nos. 5 and 6.  
● Offers two types of roll bars and side pontoon air outlets, allowing assembly of either Mario Andretti’s or Ronnie Peterson’s car from the British GP or German GP.
