London: Saunders and Otley, 1834. xxxvi, 341 pages. 23cm x 14.5cm. Full dark red Morrocco with gilt decorated boards and gilt decorated and lettered spine, All edges are gilt. First edition of this epistolary novel with 27 beautiful engravings (14 on plates, the rest in-text) of famous regions and cities of the Rhine River.
Rubbing, bumping, and wear to the boards and spine. Pencil markings in the front and back pastedown endpapers. The frontispiece page is loose. Browning, spotting and offsetting of the engravings throughout. The text and illustrations are clear, and the binding is a bit soft. Overall, a nice copy in good condition.
