Battesimo di Cristo, an 18th‑century Italian artwork, executed in mixed media, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Pietro Bracci (Rome 1700 - Rome 1773). The image is a drawing on paper, probably a preparatory sketch, depicting the Baptism of Christ.
The drawing shows John the Baptist (on the left, standing) baptizing Jesus Christ (in the center, standing).
The scene is a biblical event in which, according to the Gospel of Luke, the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, and a voice from heaven proclaimed him as his son.
Other figures, such as angels and a seated figure (on the right), observe the scene. The drawing features two signatures, one identifiable as Pietro Bacci on the left side, the other unidentifiable on the lower right. Drawing dimensions are 19.5 cm by 29.5 cm. The lot will be properly packed and shipped with authorized couriers and online tracking. No shipments outside the European Community will be made for this lot.
