masque africain des gurunsi, figurant probablement l'antilope cob, est doté d'yeux globuleux et s'agrémente de motifs géométriques en bichromie. Ces masques africains aux yeux globuleux, figurant des esprits de la brousse, sortaient lors de danses rituelles et étaient portés par les membres du village équipés de tenues intégrales en fibres végétales qui recouvraient le corps. Le rituel devait apporter fécondité et prospérité au village, à condition qu'il soit correctement accompli. Ces masques servaient également au cours de cérémonies funéraires de notables, pour fêter les passages de grades initiatiques ou simplement pour le divertissement. C'est au cours d'une initiation d'une durée de deux semaines que l'on initiait les jeunes garçons au secret des masques et à la signification de leurs motifs. Sur le plan religieux, les Gurunsi croient en un être supérieur, Yi, qui s'est retiré du monde après l'avoir créé et dont l'autel occupe le centre du village. Yi a envoyé, pour le représenter, l'esprit Su, incarné dans tous les masques et honoré par un autel. Parmi les Gourunsi, les Lela, Winiama, Nuna et Nunuma sont les principaux sculpteurs de 73cm17cm masque africain magnifique
