Morgon is one of the ten Beaujolais crus and is made from 100% Gamay grapes. The region is characterized by mineral-rich granite and schist soils, which produce wines with depth and structure, often with aromas of cherries, violets, and spices. The 2021 vintage is described as classic and well-balanced: fresh, rich, and fleshy, with a medium to full body and a long, precise finish. There is a bit more restraint in style here and there after the more powerful varieties. Red fruits (cherries, raspberries), violets, sometimes plums, and spices. Medium to full body with softer tannins and lively acidity. Long and precise finish, often mineral. Ready to drink immediately, but can age for up to 6-10 years after 2021. 14–16°C, preferably in a Pinot Noir glass. Pairs well with poultry, light game, pasta, charcuterie, and soft cheeses.
