A bi-folio manuscript from an early, damaged, C19th Koran, scribed in Kashmir. The leaf contains scripture from Chapter 14 of The Book, Ibrahim (Abraham) v10-17, where God's messengers ask their people if there can be doubt about Allah, the Creator of the heavens and earth. The verse states that Allah is calling people to Him to forgive their sins and postpone their appointed end, but the people respond by questioning the messengers' humanity and demanding a clear sign. The Messengers urged the people to trust and believe in God, but this was rejected. Verses 13-17 then articulate the fate that will come to the disbelievers. Awaiting them is Hell and they will be left to drink oozing pus. Death will overwhelm them from every side, yet they will not be allowed to die and reach paradise. 

The verses are scribed in black ink naskh script, within a rectangular box surrounded by solid gold trim. Several plain gold roundels mark out the individual verses and there are devotional markings in red providing guidance to the reader. The upper right marginal Juz decoration is elaborate and attractive and in this case mark the 10th verse of the Chapter.  A neat gold and red floral device embellishes the top corners. 

This is well preserved and interesting bi-folio
