Description from the seller
Original edition of Paul Verlaine's seventh poetic collection in verse, published in 1889 by Léon Vanier, which was enriched in 1894.
Like previous collections such as Jadis et naguère, this work brings together pieces composed long before and quite different in inspiration (erotic poetry of the Amies contrasted with the prison universe described in the poems of the remainder of Cellulairement).
Verlaine seems to have had the very idea of the collection from the beginning of 1886, when he wrote to his publisher Léon Vanier, in his letter of February 6, 1886: 'Love and Parallel will walk together at a good pace [...]'.
Well bound in ivory demi-velin (bradel), with a leather title piece and gilt lettering. Some black marks on the back. Covers and spine preserved. Interior fresh and clean, in very good condition. Slightly visible hinge in the middle of the work, but very sturdy. A beautiful copy.
Paul Verlaine
Meanwhile,
Paris, Léon Vanier, 1889
In-8 (19 x 12 cm), 116 pages.
