Antique painting by Frans Hals—oil on canvas—Dated 1653 and bearing the monogram FH (Frans Hals). In addition to this monogram, it also mentions 'pinxit R,' indicating it was painted by R, with the date of Frans Hals clearly readable as 1653.
Frans Hals is one of the most famous Dutch painters, alongside Rembrandt, Vermeer, and van Dijk—his works are certainly as well known as those of the mentioned painters, and his paintings hang in all major museums.
He was born in Antwerp (Belgium) and moved to Haarlem (Holland) at the age of 4. He lived from 1582 and died in 1666 in Holland.
