The French artist Jacques Duce was born in 1924 in Boulogne-sur-Seine. He studied at the Montparnasse Academy. In 1947 he met the Dutch artist Cornel, who introduced him to a Dutch experimental group. He took part in the famous CoBrA exhibitions in Amsterdam (1949) and Liège (1951). Later, Duce increasingly favored the abstract style and experimented with all kinds of materials. His works were regularly exhibited in France, Belgium, Denmark, and the Netherlands (at the Yaski Gallery). Jacques Duce died in 1994 in Paris.
