Second edition, the first official one printed in a small run on pure Lana thread, following the very rare original of Jean Genet's first novel, written in Fresnes prison in 1942 and clandestinely published.
Beautiful typography in black and red.
Softcover as original, with a dust jacket.
In very good condition, some marks on the cover, spine slightly soiled. Interior impeccable.
Summary: In his novel, Genet chooses to write, from his prison cell, his fantasies. He imagines characters, makes them act, love, hate each other while slipping inside each of them. He then tells the story of Divine, formerly Louis Culafroy. The reader follows his journey throughout the novel, which is constructed on the inverted model of a saint’s life. The reader then follows his life, his work in prostitution, his community of transvestites, his loves, and his encounter with a young assassin, Notre Dame, who gives his name to the novel.
