Chalice - .800 silver - Neo-rococo chalice
Heavy silver chalice in neo-roccoco-style. Made in Austria around 1890 in 800/1000 silver.
The contoured base of the chalice is decorated with three different ornament:
1) the sacred heart of Christ with rays around it
2) with the abbrevation IHS = Jesus Hominem Salvator (Jezus Saviour of Mankind)
3)a triangle with the eye of God with rays.
Each ornament has a bunch of flowers as a base.
The nodus (stem) of the chalice is decorated with threek cherubim (angels heads in baroque style)
The cuppa with grapes, flowers and ear of corn.
Hallmarks: a head of a goddess with half moon used in Austria - Hungary from 1886 to 1922 for 800/1000 silver.
A makersmark in the shape of an U.
The chalice is very heavy; total weight: 934 grams.
Some slight damages at the cuppa, otherwise in good condition.
Dimensions: 25,5 x 13,5 x 12,5 cm.
