Lote compuesto por un tríptico en español del Steyr Tipo IV / 7/23 PS (ca. 1924–1925) con representación en Barcelona (Garage Majestic), un ejemplar en francés del mismo modelo y dos hojas sueltas con documentación técnica. Conjunto original de época, raro y muy difícil de encontrar.

Lot consisting of a Spanish-language tri-fold brochure for the Steyr Type IV / 7/23 PS (c. 1924–1925) with Barcelona representation (Garage Majestic), a French edition of the same model, and two loose sheets with technical documentation. Original period set, rare and difficult to find.

Contexto histórico

Tras la Primera Guerra Mundial, Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (Steyr, Viena) inició la producción de automóviles y entre 1922 y 1925 fabricó el Steyr Tipo IV / 7/23 PS, un turismo ligero de cuatro cilindros (76 × 100 mm, ≈1,8 L, 23 HP efectivos). En los primeros años de posguerra apenas se exportaba fuera de Austria, de modo que los folletos en español y francés reflejan una de las primeras campañas de apertura internacional de la marca.

Las hojas sueltas de este lote corresponden a la etapa anterior al cambio de denominación, cuando la empresa aún se presentaba como Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (Steyr, Viena). En cambio, los panfletos (trípticos en español y francés) ya pertenecen a la fase posterior, bajo la nueva denominación Steyr, que marcaría la consolidación internacional de la marca.

Se acompaña certificado de autenticidad expedido por Steyr-Register (Thomas Billicsich), que confirma la correcta identificación del modelo Steyr Tipo IV / 7/23 PS y la coherencia de la documentación publicitaria aquí ofrecida.

Historical context

After World War I, Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (Steyr, Vienna) began car production, and between 1922 and 1925 manufactured the Steyr Type IV / 7/23 PS, a light four-cylinder car (76 × 100 mm, ≈1.8 L, 23 HP effective). In the early post-war years exports outside Austria were very limited, so brochures in Spanish and French represent one of the brand’s first international marketing efforts.

The loose sheets in this lot belong to the period before the name change, when the company was still listed as Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft (Steyr, Vienna). In contrast, the brochures (Spanish and French tri-folds) already date from the later phase, under the new Steyr name, marking the brand’s international consolidation.

Includes a certificate of authenticity issued by Steyr-Register (Thomas Billicsich), confirming the correct identification of the Steyr Type IV / 7/23 PS and the consistency of the period advertising material offered here.

Tríptico original en español del Steyr Tipo IV / 7/23 PS (ca. 1924–1925). Consta de tres cuerpos impresos con ilustraciones del motor en dos vistas, transmisión, chasis y carrocerías. En el reverso aparece la representación en España: Enrique Tella – Garage Majestic, Provenza 52–54, Barcelona.

El ejemplar presenta pliegues muy marcados y pequeñas roturas en los pliegues. Se aprecian manchas de oxidación (foxing), desgaste en cantos y esquinas, y anotaciones manuscritas a bolígrafo con precios en la sección de carrocerías. Pese a los defectos, mantiene la integridad y es plenamente legible. Estado: 3/5 (aceptable).

Original Spanish-language tri-fold for the Steyr Type IV / 7/23 PS (c. 1924–1925). Three panels with illustrations of the engine (two views), transmission, chassis, and body styles. The back lists the Spanish representation: Enrique Tella – Garage Majestic, Provenza 52–54, Barcelona.

The piece shows heavy folds and tears along the folds. Foxing, edge/corner wear, and handwritten ink price notes appear on the body styles panel. Despite flaws, it remains complete and readable. Condition: 3/5 (fair).

Folleto francés

Ejemplar en francés con el mismo diseño gráfico, dirigido al mercado francófono. Contiene láminas técnicas y texto original en francés.

Presenta pliegues marcados, foxing, bordes fatigados con micro-roturas y desgaste superficial acusado. Hay una pequeña parte donde el satinado se ha perdido. El texto e imágenes se mantienen legibles, aunque el conjunto muestra un uso intenso. Estado: 2/5 (justo).

French-language example with the same graphic layout, aimed at the Francophone market. Features technical plates and original French text.

It shows pronounced creases, foxing, tired edges with small tears, and significant surface wear. There is a small area where the satin finish has been lost. Text and images remain legible, but the piece reflects heavy use. Condition: 2/5 (poor-fair).

Hojas sueltas (2 uds.)

Dos hojas originales relacionadas con la documentación. Ambas son legibles y mantienen la impresión, pero muestran foxing, pliegues leves y bordes desgastados con micro-roturas. Una de ellas presenta restos adheridos y pérdida del satinado en partes de la superficie.

En conjunto, son hojas bien conservadas para la edad, con defectos propios del uso y almacenamiento. Estado: 2/5 (justo).
