J. Chaumontel's Journal d'un voyageur sincère à travers Paris, 1st edition, published in 1867, French, 104 pages, in very good condition, a rare copy containing a text signed by Chaumontel and bound in brown half-percaline with a leather title piece.
Description from the seller
Rare and beautiful copy containing a signed text by J. Chaumontel, published in 1867, which describes his stroll through the streets of the city, interspersed with numerous historical anecdotes and political reflections.
Text taken from a newspaper, the text was cut out and carefully pasted onto about a hundred pages.
Bound in a lovely half-percaline effect brown chagrin binding, with a smooth spine featuring false bands, decorated with a leather title piece and gilded lettering.
In very good condition. Solid binding, showing some rubbing at the headbands and edges, and some discreet marks on the covers. Interior in excellent condition.
Uncommon
I will go on a journey to discover my homeland instead of exploring others' homelands. The trip is bound to be interesting, at least for me. I undertake it seriously, albeit joyfully, just as seriously as I would have undertaken an excursion to Switzerland or Spain.
Provenance: Ex-libris by Aglaüs Ernest Bouvenne, (1829-1903), a French engraver and illustrator who notably engraved Victor Hugo's ex-libris.
Bookplate of Dr. Maurice Vimont (1861-1954).
J. Chaumontel
Journal of a sincere traveler through Paris.
