Original edition with a beautiful signed autograph inscription from Marie de Régnier, the author's wife, 'To Dr. Delafontaine, in memory of Henri de Régnier with grateful friendship... Christmas 1936.'
Marie de Régnier (1875-1963): 'Wife of Henri de Régnier, sister-in-law of René Doumic and Gilbert de Voisins. (...) Her paternal lineage was Cuban, and it is known that she was one of the daughters of José Maria de Heredia. A poet like her father, she was also a remarkable novelist, author of *L'Inconstante*, *Le Séducteur*, *Le Temps d'aimer*, *Tant pis pour toi*, and *Le Roman des Quatre*, which she co-wrote with Paul Bourget, Pierre Benoit, and Henri Duvernois.' (Revue Des Deux Mondes)
