Elegant Rococo-shaped small shoe box. The bow is decorated with blue and white enamel. The back features a small press button that opens the box using a spring mechanism.
Attributed to François Simon Alphonse Giroux in Paris. Perfect condition, gilding very well preserved, normal age-related wear.
Dimensions 3 x 9.5 x 3.5 cm. Entirely gold-plated copper and engraved. Small pot in the shape of an elegant rococo shoe with an applied enamel arch. At the back, a small push button allows the pot to be opened using a spring mechanism.
Maison Alphonse Giroux, 'the merchant of princes,' is an important Parisian manufacturer of luxury furniture and accessories, whose products were aimed at aristocratic and bourgeois clientele. It was established in 1799 at 7, rue du Coq Saint-Honoré, then moved to Boulevard des Capucines. Founded by François-Simon-Alphonse Giroux under the name 'A. GIROUX in PARIS,' it was taken over by the Giroux children and remained active under the name 'Alphonse Giroux and Co.' until 1867, when management was taken over by Ferdinand Duvinage.
