Viking Iron Axe with Adze
Circa 900 AD
This impressive iron axe–adze head features a broad flaring axe blade on one side; the opposite arm forged as a long, tapering adze/pick with a straight back and acute point; a thick central body with an oval hafting eye and paired lugs above and below.
Dimensions: 18,5cm x 6cm x 2,5cm
Provenance: Private European Collection; formerly acquired from old UK and European collection formed since the 1970s.
