This edition from 1862 by Paribonda Innocenzo presents Indovinala Grillo cioè Le Finte Sorti with original rusticated binding and a unique manuscript section enhancing its historical value.
Description from the seller
Indovinala Grillo – that is, The Fake Outings.
A curious, honest, and beautiful work of seventy questions, to each of which, through arithmetic, are given twenty-two answers in poetic verses, to pass the time during vigils and honorable conversations.
Innocenzo from Paribonda (not mentioned)
Page 8 features a wheel for a board game with a metal arrow showing signs of wear, plus 102 + 20 pages (the last 20 pages are handwritten, probably by the former owner, and are of great originality and curiosity). There are small spots on some pages, minor restorations, creases, and some yellowing.
Rustic and original binding with probable worn and rigid cover - parchment spine.
Dimensions in cm 13.5 x 10
Napoli 1862
Acceptable conditions with wear, very rare, particularly regarding the originality of the additions.
Note: The author's name is omitted in almost all Neapolitan editions. On the other hand, the expression 'indovinala grillo' in the title appears only in the early 19th-century editions. In all titles, however, the expression 'finte sorti' is found. The 'finte sorti' are a contradiction in terms: fortunes are predictions, the news that happen to befall each person regarding their own destiny. For such predictions to be considered, they must be truthful, or at least assumed to be so.
