Two George Allen & Unwin Tolkien tomes, The Hobbit (third edition, 1971) with Tolkien’s early artwork and The Lord of the Rings one-volume edition (1968) illustrated by Pauline Baynes, offered in mixed softback condition.

1) The Hobbit, 3rd edition (paperback), 11th impression (1971).
Published by George Allen & Unwin Ltd. 279 pages. ISBN 048230707.
The front cover (and part of the back cover) features an early sketch by J. R. R. Tolkien depicting Smaug being struck by an arrow fired by Bard the Bowman over Burning Lake-town. Inside, Thror's Map and the Map of Wilderland can be found on the first and last pages.
Condition: The book is in very good condition. Solid binding. There is practically no rubbing or creasing to the spine or covers. The corners hold very well. There are no inscriptions or annotations. The edges and pages are clean and white (except for minor oxide specks on the edge).
