Kei Shiogai "Poisot", 2022 Pommard Pinot Noir, 0.75L bottle, 1 bottle.
Description from the seller
Produced by Japanese-born winemaker Kei Shiogai in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, this wine captures the essence of Pommard through precision, restraint, and an artisanal touch. Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, it reflects both the power and depth typical of the appellation and the purity that defines Shiogai’s minimalist approach.
The 2022 vintage was warm yet balanced, resulting in generous fruit and fine-grained tannins. Grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils, which lend structure and minerality. Fermentations occur with native yeasts and minimal intervention, emphasizing transparency and terroir expression.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby color. The aroma opens with notes of ripe cherry, plum, and raspberry, followed by subtle hints of forest floor, herbs, and graphite. On the palate, it combines richness with precision — medium to full-bodied, marked by firm but elegant tannins, and a long, savory finish with earthy undertones.
While still youthful, it already displays fine balance and promise for ageing. It will likely evolve beautifully between 2025 and 2030, gaining complexity and harmony over time.
This Pommard suits roasted game, beef, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses, and will appeal to collectors seeking distinctive, small-production Burgundies. With limited availability and rising reputation, it stands as a striking example of the new, meticulous generation of Burgundy winemakers who combine tradition and quiet innovation.
