Description from the seller

Original box of Vega Sicilia UNICO 1974, the box never been opened before untill now upon request of Catawiki to show fill level and label condition.
3 bottles of 0.75L with an outstanding vintage and value for collectors. Always stored in the family cellar. This vintage was excellent in Ribera del Duero. Bottler numbers: 60301, 60302 and 60303. Signed by the president of the prestigious VEGA SICILIA S.A. winery.

A great luxury and opportunity in your hands to surprise friends and family this coming Christmas, as an investment or for your collection. It has greatly increased in value over the years. This is a rare opportunity.

It is of the Tinto Fino variety, with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from the oldest vineyards on the Valbuena de Duero winery estate, a property on the banks of the Duero River with calcareous and alluvial soils.

The influence of a continental climate with Atlantic influence is low, with scarce rainfall concentrated in autumn and spring and hot, sunny summers.
Vega Sicilia is characterized by the utmost care taken in every detail of the preparation process. The work begins in the vineyard. Green pruning is carried out to remove bunches and thus limit the production of each vine, obtaining grapes with a high concentration.

The harvest is carried out manually, selecting the bunches that are at their optimum point of ripeness. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in oak vats for 15 days at a maximum temperature of 32ºC. Once completed, malolactic fermentation takes place in oak vats. The wine remains in these vats for a whole year in order to clarify and rest.

Vega Sicilia Único is aged for at least seven years in French oak barrels made in the winery's own cooperage. It starts in new barrels and is then transferred to more used barrels in order to achieve a perfect balance between wine and wood.

Once bottled, Vega Sicilia Único is left to rest in the bottle for a further 3 years before being released onto the market. A long process, lasting almost 10 years, to create a very special wine, a unique wine.
A bottle of Vega Sicilia “UNICO” from 1966. Rated 95/100 by Robert Parker, 97/100 by Penin and 98/100 points by DoctorWine, it is considered one of the best wines of the mid-20th century.

1974 was a mild year in the 1970s, with a hot summer and harvest beginning on October 10. Nose with notes of dried fruit and hints of spice (nutmeg). Medium body, herbal touch of Cabernet.

Good quality. Always stored in a family cellar at a constant temperature. Secure shipping with tracking.
