A silvered cigar box designed by Danish designer Georg Nilsson for the Dutch Gero factory in Zeist, with a hammered exterior and wood interior, dimensions 21 x 15 x 7 cm, dating to ca. 1930–1940 and in good used condition with minor signs of aging and stains.
Description from the seller
Stylish silver-plated cigar box, designed by Danish designer Georg Nilsson (1888–1975) for the Dutch factory Gero in Zeist. The box is marked with Gero 90 and features Nilsson's distinctive monogram, indicating high-quality silver plating.
The exterior features a beautiful hammered structure, a characteristic often seen in Nilssons Art Deco designs. The clean lines, the slightly raised lid, and the typical feet give this piece a powerful, modern look that remains timeless at the same time.
The interior is made of wood, creating a warm contrast with the cool, silver-plated surface. This type of box was originally used for cigars or small table accessories, but today it also serves perfectly as a decorative storage box.
Nilsson, trained by Georg Jensen in Copenhagen, brought a new level of Scandinavian craftsmanship to Gero. His work for the factory is among the most beloved Gero designs of the twentieth century.
A special collectible item for enthusiasts of Art Deco, silver-plated works, or Dutch design classics.
